A sustainable future for the Colne Valley Park- 23rd Feb 2012

You are invited to the Colne Valley Park Visitor Centre on Thursday February 23rd at 6:00pm to talk about the new Colne Valley Park Community Interest Company, its plans for the Colne Valley Park and how your organisation can have a voice in the governance and management of your local countryside.

Please find attached a copy of the Prospectus for the proposed Community Interest Company, a new company that is being established with the aim to ensure the Colne Valley Park will be a "sustainable network of high quality countryside, waterscapes, villages, green spaces and other amenities that provide a regionally significant destination for recreational, sporting, educational and cultural pursuits"

The prospectus outlines the history of 47 years of the Colne Valley Partnership and what has been achieved. It explains the new Colne Valley Park Community Interest Company's objectives & operational goals, legal structure, governance and operational priorities.

User groups will be invited to become founding members of the Community Interest Company (at no cost), in addition some groups may wish to nominate individuals to sit on the board to drive the organisation forward. It is important that user groups are part of the organisation alongside local authorities, government agencies, charities and businesses so that all beneficiaries of the Colne Valley have a say in its future.

There will also be a short presentation on current projects and we will seek your input to shape projects in development. The evening will finish with a buffet of produce from local farms and wild food gathered from the Colne Valley Park.

Please complete and return the attached attendance slip. Places are limited to one per group to ensure as many different groups as possible are represented. If you are unavailable on Feb 23^rd please see if another member of your committee can attend in your place.
