Launch of the Bucks Training Directory

30 September 2011

Volunteers and voluntary groups across Buckinghamshire are set to benefit thanks to a new Directory detailing an exciting range of training opportunities for the Voluntary and Community Sector.

The training Directory has come about through a partnership between Aylesbury Vale District Council, Chiltern District Council, The Clare Foundation, Community Impact Bucks, Bucks Sport and Action4Youth.

These key training providers offer a wide range of interesting training courses that are all featured in the Directory covering the period October 2011 to March 2012

This concise Directory will be available in a printed A5 booklet format as well as an online version. Copies can be obtained from the training providers or by emailing info@buckstraining.co.uk to request a copy.

The partners are confident the Directory will prove a useful tool in assisting voluntary and community groups to access training which is cost effective, relevant, and up to date and at convenient venues across the County. In addition the Directory will be used to assist in identifying any gaps in the training programme that is available.

Mike Elliott of the Clare Foundation believes that this new Directory will give local Community groups and Charities a simple way to find the training that is available in the County. Cora Carvey of Community Impact Bucks see's this Directory as the first step in an ongoing programme to bring the wealth of support services to Bucks groups into focus and make access to that support easier.

Nigel Moore of Bucks Sport commented ‘The development of the Directory enables us to promote and share training and expertise more widely which will be of great value to all volunteers as well as local community sports clubs'.

Lynne Maddocks Community Engagement Officer at Aylesbury Vale District Council is also delighted to be involved,  ‘At Aylesbury Vale District Council we provide a range of training for voluntary and community groups but it is great to work in a partnership along with other providers to ensure a more joined up approach'.

The Directory has been enhanced with graphics designed by Harry Pepper who has a background in graphic design. Harry has been working with Community Impact Bucks since April this year as part of the Buckinghamshire Future Jobs Fund. The FJF project was delivered in a partnership between Bucks County Council and Bucks Business First and as a result 58 previously unemployed young people between the ages of 18-24 across the County have benefited from the programme and gained valuable work experience.
