Better Healthcare in Bucks: consultation on changes to local health services

17 January 2012

The NHS in Buckinghamshire has been working together to look at how to develop health services that better meet the needs of local people, through the Better Healthcare in Bucks programme

Over the past few months, doctors, nurses and other clinical colleagues have been meeting together through the Better Healthcare in Bucks programme to discuss current opportunities and challenges and to look at how services should develop.  During September and October (2011) we held broader discussions with other colleagues, staff, patients, interested organisations, and members of the public, through our engagement and involvement programme, to explain to people why health services needed to change.  We found that there was strong support for our approach and for the principles we are following.  The comments and the feedback we received was passed on to our clinicians and taken into account as they developed their ideas.

We are now ready to talk to stakeholders, patients and the public about specific proposals for developments in our health services in Buckinghamshire.  We are running a formal public consultation programme, which launches on 16 January 2012 and closes on 16 April 2012. The proposals are summarised in the attached document.  A full copy of the consultation document can be found on our website, or you can ring us for a copy. During the programme we will be running a series of public and stakeholder events to discuss our proposals and to hear feedback. A list of our public events is set out on the flyer with this letter.

We are also keen to attend meetings of patient and stakeholder groups.  If you are a member of such a group and would like to invite us to give a presentation and discuss our proposals, please do not hesitate to contact us. In addition to these events, we will have information available in a wide variety of other locations, including shopping centres, libraries, GP surgeries and our hospitals.

To book a place at an event, to invite us to one of your meetings, or for more information please email, call 01494 552256 or look at www.buckinghamshire.nhs.uk/bhib
