Community Impact Bucks is the independent charity which provides comprehensive support services to other charities, community groups, social enterprises and rural organisations throughout Buckinghamshire. It is also the Volunteer Centre for Buckinghamshire, helping members of the public to get involved in community activity. How can we help you today?
Rural Transport
Buckinghamshire can be a wonderful place to live, with beautiful countryside, including the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the River Thames, but for those without transport it can be challenging to get around. There has recently been an increased demand from community groups and individuals seeking support and assistance regarding transport issues. This varies from advice on how to get to hospital appointments to transport opportunities for young people and support with setting up community transport schemes.
In response to these needs, we offer a range of transport advice services:
- Database of community transport providers across Buckinghamshire
- Wheels to Work- a moped loan scheme for young people from rural areas
- Bucks Community Cars- A County Wide Federation of Community Car Schemes
- Intensive work with groups wishing to establish a community car scheme or community bus in their area, including comprehensive toolkits and support with CRB checks and legal/administrative issues
- Community Transport Hub (Chiltern District)- a one stop shop for information , advice and guidance on all community transport providers in the Chiltern District. Launched in October 2011, this will be piloted in this area for 6 months with a view to rolling out across the rest of the county. Opening of the Chiltern Community Transport Hub Press Release
We continue to develop new initiatives across Buckinghamshire to meet the needs of people who don't have their own transport, particularly those from rural and isolated areas.
